GeoRSS is a format that allows spatial information to be encoded in RSS feeds. The GeoRSS reader and writer also have the ability to write plain (ie non-spatial) RSS feeds.
According to the GeoRSS Home Page, GeoRSS comes in two encodings, GML and Simple. GML is based on a formal GML profile and has more functionality than Simple (which is a simpler form of GML). The current GeoRSS reader can read data in an update mode, to access only features that have changed since the previous read.
Two transformers for handling GeoRSS (and RSS) feeds are also available: the GeoRSSFeatureExtractor and GeoRSSFeatureReplacer.
Here's a Directions Magazinearticle on GeoRSS.
Check out this example workspace(Article#: 000001627) that demonstrates creating GeoRSS content using FME.
Why not try out FME's GeoRSS reader on one of the following feeds? Simply set your source format to GeoRSS and add the GeoRSS link as the dataset.
