This "application note" was written by Tom Inloes from TCI Corp, the company who created FME's CurveFitter plug-in.

It is a very useful document on how to get the most out of using the extra-cost Curvefitter plugin to clean up curve features into arcs; I understand it's particularly useful in handling raw contour data.
