Question
Can I use a Linux machine for a floating license server?
Answer
Yes! Follow the documentation for Floating Licenses on UNIX to install.
FlexLM for Linux is available on Safe Software's
FTP site
It is also permissible to use a Windows PC as a floating license server for a Windows FME installation on Linux with WINE - FME running under WINE can make use of floating license servers.
In addition, you can run the FLEXlm license manager under WINE as well, and this would allow a Linux machine to be a floating license server. However, this is not specifically supported by Safe. If it works for you, great. If it doesn't, we can't do anything to help.
