Symptoms

My workspace contains SpatialBiz Readers.  This workspace was created in a previous version of FME Desktop and it ran fine.  Now in the new version of FME Desktop I get the following error messages and the workspace will not run.

WARN  |Python Exception <<type 'exceptions.ImportError'>>: No module named spatialbiz
FATAL |The python function `spatialbiz.FME_createReader' was not found. Check your python path & module imports
ERROR |Could not create Python Reader `SPATIALBIZ'
ERROR |This FME edition does not recognize the `SPATIALBIZ' reader. Please ensure that the current platform supports this reader, the reader name is spelled correctly, and that you have installed all required plug-ins

Cause

One possibility is after the new installation of FME Desktop the license file from the older installation was not copied to the new installation of FME (fixed Licensing).  Thus the errors are recieved because the Spatial Biz plugins are no longer licensed in the new installation.

Another possible problem could be related to the SpatialBiz licensing if you are using Remote Desktop connections.

Resolution

First Visit this folder <Installation Drive and Folder\FME\licenses in the old installation and review the fmelic file.  There will most likely be an entry called SPATIALBIZ in this file. Copy the entire file to the license folder of the new installation of FME Desktop and try running the workspace again.

If the first resolution doesn't help please contact SpatialBiz for more information regarding the licensing issue with the SpatialBiz Readers and Writers when using Remote Desktop connections.
