Encounter linux Syntax error: ")" unexpected when trying to start FME Server Service

Symptoms

From the Linux terminal window cannot start any of the FME Services or run the FME Licensing Assistant and the following error is returned.

"linux Syntax error: ")" unexpected"

This is also seen after the installation of FME Server has completed as the installer fires the Licensing Assistant.

Resolution

Check the OS bit version you are operating and compare the version of FME Server you installed. Likely there is a mismatch.
The error above was encountered when trying to run FME Server 64bit on a Ubuntu 32bit OS.
