Description

The FME Quick Translator (formerly called the FME Universal Translator) requires limited user input: FME determines the structure (schema) of the output data by matching (as close as possible) the input schema. These help files contain information on performing translations using the FME Quick Translator.

FME Quick Translator, FME Workbench, and FME Universal Viewer each has a separate help file. However, because there is some overlap for advanced functionality in FME Workbench and FME Quick Translator, you may have to look in separate help files to get the information you need.

FME Quick Translator or FME Workbench?

FME Quick Translator is designed for quick format-to-format translation. Advanced FME Users can execute custom mapping files through this interface, but in general, FME Workbench is the best tool to use for more complex data transformations.

FME Workbench can manipulate the data during translation, so that the information output is greater than the sum of its input parts. Workbench provides an extremely flexible and simple interface to graphically define either simple or complex data manipulations and translations.
